So, it would stand to reason that penis exercises are good for the penis. Here, we explore how penis exercises—specifically Kegels—are the answer to how to delay ejaculation, and just what else they can do for your sexual performance.

About Kegel exercises.

Doing a Kegel involves squeezing your pelvic floor muscles. To locate them, pretend you are stopping the flow of urine in mid-stream. Contracting these muscles and then releasing them is a Kegel. The Kegel involves repeating the contraction-and-release move 10 to 20 times at a time.

This can be challenging at first because it involves moving muscles you don’t typically move, but they do get easier over time. Start with one set, then aim to do three or four sets of the Kegel penis exercise three to four times a day.

The magic in doing Kegels comes from doing them repeatedly and regularly. Another recommendation is to vary your position while doing the Kegels: Do one-third of them laying down, another one-third while sitting, and another one-third while standing.

It’s also important to do them consistently. Experts recommend to do them at the same time each day, or to do them while you do other regular routines like going to the bathroom, brushing your teeth, or watching TV. What’s ideal is that Kegel exercises for strengthening your pelvic floor can be done at anytime, anywhere. Here’s more on how to do Kegel exercises for men.

Kegel benefits.

As one of the many natural solutions to how to last longer in bed, penis exercises such as Kegels provide many benefits:

Reducing premature ejaculation. Pelvic floor strengthening exercises are effective in treating the most common male sexual disorder, premature ejaculation. One study explored the effect of a 12-week pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation regimen on 40 men who had lifelong premature ejaculation. At the end of the 12 weeks, 33 of the 40 patients gained control of their ejaculatory reflex, and 13 of the 33 maintained sustained results after six months.

Decreasing ED. One of the reasons Kegels are also prescribed is for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Specifically, Kegel exercises can be done to strengthen the pelvic floor, promoting blood flow and allowing for greater control in retaining blood in the penis during an erection.

One study found that after three months, men who did regular pelvic floor exercises—combined with biofeedback and lifestyle changes—showed significant increases in erectile function. Another study found that pelvic exercises helped 40% of men regain normal erectile function and helped an additional 33.5% of men improve erectile function.

Increasing control. While the jury is out regarding whether there are penis exercises to make it bigger, sources say that by strengthening the pelvic area you can increase circulation in the pelvic region. This allows for more blood flow into the penis, and strong pelvic muscles create a greater ability to keep blood in the penis once it’s there. This can add length and strength to the penis and give you more control of your erections and orgasms.

Other penis exercises.

Penis exercises provide additional benefits beyond how to delay ejaculation, and there are other types of penis exercises besides Kegels.

For example, another way penis exercises work is by treating Peyronie’s disease, which is characterized by a curvature of the penis that results from a buildup of scar tissue. The condition can cause pain, as well as shortening of the penis. While treatment has involved medications or surgery, sources indicate that stretching the penis can help reduce the curvature.

One of the suggested penis exercises is to stretch the penis by grabbing it just behind the head, and holding it straight out from the body for 15 seconds. After the stretch, relax, and then stretch the penis up and down, and then to the right and left, holding each stretch for 15 seconds. After the stretches, grab the base of the penis with your thumb and forefinger as if you were making the “okay” sign. Then “milk” the penis from the base to the glans 10 times and repeat.

Another way to think of penis exercises is just getting your penis moving, as with regular sex. This can condition your body to becoming aroused and increasing blood flow to the penis. Sex is often a “use it or lose” proposition, so making sex part of your lifestyle and your relationship can go far in improving your sexual health and making you feel more confident and virile. And, the more sex you have the more you’re in the mood!

How to get started.

If you want to exercise your penis with regular erections, you can begin whenever you’re ready. If you’re having difficulty achieving an erection, a vacuum therapy device can help. See how a penis pump can work for better erections.

And for increasing length with stretches, strengthening the pelvic floor with targeted moves, and using penis exercises to make it bigger, you can start Kegel exercises anytime to improve sexual health and boost your confidence in the bedroom.
