Dating After Divorce: Tips for Getting Back in the Saddle

dating-after-divorce.jpgDating after divorce may seem daunting at first. But it’s actually a great opportunity to reconnect with yourself, get to know others, and discover new experiences and passions. It can also be a time to reengage with others physically and explore a satisfying and intimate connection. If you’re reentering the world of dating, keep these tips in mind to get back in the saddle again.

First, be ready.

Dating may feel different now and so may your body. Although age is not a cause of erectile dysfunction, it is more common with age. Knowing this, take the time to assess your own reactions and abilities. If you’re experiencing signs of ED, contact your doctor about the many treatment options, including vacuum therapy. Practicing with and using an ED pump can ensure you’re ready when the time is right.

Be realistic.

It can also help to keep your expectations in check before every date. Some dates may be great, and others may make you wish you stayed at home. One source suggests to go into every date with an open and curious mind to “receive the lessons to come.” You may learn something about a new person, or something about yourself. If you treat each date as a lesson in learning something new, you’ll never be disappointed.

Be confident.

Confidence can be the antidote to aging, health issues, or anything else you could be facing. People are attracted to confidence, so if you’re feeling insecure, overwhelmed, or out of practice, take active measures to keep your cool. Practice, learn from others, or get advice from friends about what you should do or say. You want to be real and honest, but it’s equally important to appear poised and assured.

Be open.

If your new dating life will lead to a physical connection and you’re experiencing ED, let your date know if you’re using an ED pump. Again, be confident. It’s a natural solution with effective results. Let your partner know what to expect, and involve your partner in the process. Take it slow and sexy. Invite your partner to help with the pump or apply lubricant. Go with it and don’t overthink it. (Here are more tips on introducing a penis pump in your love-making.)
