There are many products available that claim to increase the size of a person’s penis, including many pumps that may appear similar to the devices offered by Rejoyn Medical Systems, Inc. The makers of these products claim that regular use can increase the length and girth of a penis. Here we explore these claims further and provide answers on just what a vacuum pump can do for you.
First, what is a vacuum pump?
Vacuum therapy is a clinically proven, FDA-approved, non-invasive, drug-free treatment for erectile dysfunction.
Vacuum therapy uses a clear plastic cylinder that has an opening at one end and a pump mechanism on the other. The pump can be either manually operated or battery-operated. The man places the cylinder over the penis, creating a seal at the base of the shaft. He then “pumps” the mechanism to create negative pressure in the cylinder. The pressure builds slowly, drawing blood into the arterial and venous arteries, basically creating an erection.
Once an erection is achieved, the man or partner moves an elastic support ring from around the cylinder to the base of the penis, and removes the device. The support ring essentially traps the blood in the penis, sustaining the erection for up to 30 minutes.
Is vacuum therapy safe?
Vacuum therapy is safe for a number of reasons. One, vacuum therapy devices are FDA-approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and have been used by millions of men for decades. The treatment is routinely prescribed by doctors, and is proven to produce safe, quality erections.
A second reason vacuum therapy is safe is that it produces a natural erection, held in place by a tension ring, all without the need for medications, injections, or surgery. Many men do not respond to these treatments, or are adverse to taking drugs or shots that affect internal systems and can have unwanted side effects. Because vacuum therapy is entirely external, it’s an inherently safe treatment option for ED.
A third reason this therapy is safe is because it involves vacuum therapy devices and not “penis developers.” Vacuum therapy devices are designed to not produce vacuum pressure greater than 200-250 mmHg. They also contain pop-off valves that prevent the build-up of too much pressure. These vacuum controls reduce the risk of penile injury.
Does a vacuum pump you up?
There are some circumstances where vacuum therapy devices can affect the length of a person’s penis. But these cases are mostly limited to the period following a radical prostatectomy to treat prostate cancer.
After such an operation, it is common for some shrinkage to occur in patients. Regular use of a vacuum therapy device has been shown to greatly reduce or completely prevent this shrinkage from occurring. However, in healthy people who have not recently undergone this sort of operation, results are quite different.
Some regular users of vacuum pump devices have reported an increase in size, but that is usually temporary. In one study, participants used a device three times a week for 20 minutes and did report an increase in length. However, once they stopped using the device, the participants returned to their normal size within a few days.
A regimen such as this comes with some risks. Using a vacuum therapy device for too long or too often can lead to penile tissue damage or burst blood vessels.
There are actually very few methods of increasing penis size that have been shown to have any long-term effects. There are certain surgical procedures available, but that is an extreme measure and has a low satisfaction rate. Only 35% of patients report being satisfied with the results.
It is important to note that the American Urological Association states that these procedures have not been shown to be safe or effective for increasing the thickness or length of the penis in an adult. Any procedure should be considered experimental.
Is more size really needed?
In most cases, enhancing the size of a person’s penis is not actually necessary. The average erect penis is only 5 to 6 inches long, and many people with less-than-average length have very satisfied partners. A penis is only considered abnormally small when it measures less than three inches when erect.
If you are concerned about the size of your penis, the most important thing you can do is communicate with your partner. Many people prefer their partner’s penis to not be too large, as that can make intercourse uncomfortable.
If satisfaction is an issue, you can discuss various ways to improve the experience. You can try different positions or different means of stimulation, such as oral, manual or using devices such as vibrators. There are many ways to make sure both partners are enjoying themselves, and everybody has their own preferences.
Many people suffer insecurities due to popular culture’s emphasis on penis size, but in most cases these insecurities are groundless. Effective communication with your partner is more important than anatomy.
While you may not be able to enhance size specifically, you can safely treat ED with an FDA-approved penis pump. To learn more, browse our blogs, and download our free ebook, How to Use A Penis Pump To Take Back Your Sex Life.
